Two engineers.
One stubborn idea.
Better wind.
Calypso Instruments started on the water, building wind meters sailors could trust. Twenty years later, the same ultrasonic technology sits on shooting mats and firing lines, reading the air your bullet actually flies through.
Built because nothing else was good enough
Ángel and his partner, lifelong friends and industrial engineers, saw sailors struggling with wind instruments that were wired, fragile, and power hungry. Driven by their own ingenuity, they set out to build the solution themselves: one that ran on the sun, spoke Bluetooth, and had no moving parts to fail.
The most accurate wind, where you shoot
We build the most accurate and reliable wind measurement tools for ballistics. Real measured data, not estimates, so every shooter can make a better call and a safer one.
Key milestones
Two engineers start building wind instruments in Zaragoza.
The idea for a solar-powered, Bluetooth wind meter is born.
Our first ultrasonic anemometer ships. No moving parts.
The Ultrasonic Portable Solar is nominated for the DAME Award.
The Portable Mini is recognized for its size, accuracy, and phone link.
Fully handheld and native to Applied Ballistics.
A new generation built on an open protocol is announced.
Shooters, solver makers, and the people who test us
The same drive that started Calypso still runs it. We build to exceed the accuracy standard, then put the gear in the hands of people who will tell us the truth about it. Follow along, or come build with us.
